Best Shows on Cartoon Network - The Best of today’s cartoons
We can dive deep into excellent shows on Cartoon Network and engage in a debate that the old Cartoon Network was better. Instead, I’m just going to ignore the old Cartoon Network classics and run along with the shows that are on Cartoon Network today. As a huge fan of Cartoon Network, I am more than satisfied with the majority of the content on the channel today. A lot of the Cartoon Network shows released 2010 and after are not that bad. Let’s jump straight in. Here is a list of the best current shows on Cartoon network.
But wait a minute before you jump right into it, that's about "the best not so old shows", but if you love the old things, here's The Best Old Shows On Cartoon Network.
There would be no other way to start the list. Adventure Time has gathered a cult following since it’s release in 2010. The story is centred around Fin the human and his companion Jake the dog. Jake is a shape shifting dog and the adoptive brother of Fin. Jake’s family adopted Fin when he was a baby and Jake’s father raised him as his own. In the show, Jake and Fin share a large treehouse where they live. From the house, they go out on adventures in a world that was born in the aftermath of nuclear war one thousand years ago.
In this new world, things are not what they used to be, everything looks and acts strangely. Fin and Jake even use futuristic slang for some objects we use every day, but the use and name were forgotten long ago. Found in the world are different Kingdoms that reign over different types of creatures/people. The Candy Kingdom is filled with Candy people created by their ruler Princess Bubblegum. The Fire Kingdom is ruled by the Flame King and the Ice Kingdom by the Ice King (I think you get the idea). Fin and Jake sometimes assist the rulers of these Kingdoms in epic quests. Princess Bubblegum of the Candy Kingdom is the most frequently assisted due to Fin’s romantic interest in her.
Steven is a young boy who lives with the Crystal Gems (magical human-like creatures). The gems all have special/magical powers and they try their best to teach Steven how to use his powers in an appropriate and good way. Steven is half gem and half human, his mother being the gem. After his mother’s death, Steven learned that he too has gem powers and needs to learn how to control them. Steven’s father is still alive and they interact regularly in episodes.
The Gems protect Earth from other corrupted Gems. A Geo weapon of mass destruction was used to corrupt the gems and render them unable to control their natural form. Thus they become a risk to the world and the people that inhabit it.
Welcome to Elmore. One of Cartoon Network’s strangest places and home to Gumball Waterson and his down to earth, insane family. The Watersons are a modern family in many aspects. The mother works and supports the family, the father is a stay at home parent and Darwin, the cleverly named fish with legs, is adopted. Yes, you heard correct a fish with legs. Did I mention the mother is a cat and the father a bunny?
Cartoon Network has always been known for its weirdness and this show is no exception. Nevertheless, the show is more entertaining than a cat with socks on, which is something you’ll see in the show. Although the show is named The Amazing World of Gumball, the story is not bound to Gumball entirely and even has episodes that only feature inanimate objects that can talk. See how the Watersons deal with everyday life and join Gumball and Darwin as they experience childhood the way it should be.
Speaking of Cartoon Network and weird shows, this one might be the champion. Uncle Grandpa is everyone’s magical, well… Uncle and grandpa. Yes, that doesn’t make sense even for people with a big imagination, but neither does the talking pizza slice and the realistic flying tiger. Uncle Grandpa has one purpose in the universe, and that’s to help any child in need. These children’s problems are anything from struggling to make friends to an overdue History report. Along with his crew, they travel the world helping any child in distress.
Pizza Steve (a narcissistic pizza slice), Mr Gus (a lizard humanoid creature) and Realistic Flying Tiger (a realistic flying tiger) accompany Uncle Grandpa on his adventures and lend a hand where they can. Around his waist, Uncle Grandpa carries a red talking bag named Belly Bag. Belly Bag has everything that Uncle Grandpa needs when he needs it, like a Lazer Hammer for when he starts a fight with the Boogie Man. Uncle Grandpa even visits Steven in a crossover episode on Steven Universe. Which proved to be very entertaining when the Crystal Gems arrive and see him as a magical threat.
Taking a more humorous approach to the comic book superhero team. The core elements of the characters remain the same, but instead of the story revolving around the heroes battles with villains, the Teen Titans tend to goof around 90% of the time. This has many fans criticizing the show, but the writers do not give a damn. Sometimes you’ll even hear the Titans break the 4th wall and talk about how they need to be more serious like the old show. Afterwards, they just go on and muck around like they do in this show.
The show displays the life of the Titans as they pick up new hobbies, fight over bathroom time, fool around in the HQ of the Justice League and occasionally fight some villains. Teen Titans Go is very entertaining and I personally love the lack of seriousness.
